Tell Us A Bit About Yourself... I live with my partner and two teenage children. When my children were small I made the decision to stay at home rather then go to work. So I decided that as soon as my children were old enough to go to nursery I would go back to college and learn anything and everything that would be useful and interesting to learn. I enjoyed many years of training and learning until my children reached an age where I felt I could set up my own business from home. I was drawn to Reiki healing after training as a Counsellor for 3 years. I recently trained to do Indian Head Massage and have found this to be a lovely addition to the healing I do. I also teach Reiki and Anusha to all levels and really enjoy this side of my work. I have dedicated my life to helping others and my healing work is part of my life. I love to walk and do yoga and ballet classes to maintain a healthy and happy mind and body. I feel this is essential for giving healing to others. |
What Is Your Book About? My book is a heart-warming collection of inspirational writings. The words are written in a poetic and reflective way and show the beauty of nature, and all our surroundings. An Inner Light That Shines So Bright can show you how to find your way through difficult times and the words are also uplifting and inspiring. I have put the poems into themes of Nature, Angels, Bereavement, and Harmony amongst others. The writings contain strong, powerful and meaningful messages which have the ability to be healing. They can show you how to have faith, trust and hope in one's life. |
Who Is It Aimed At? All ages from 12 onwards can appreciate ths book. My father is 83 years old and found the poems to be a great way to relax and appreciate life. The wonderful thing about this book is that anyone can relate to the poems in one way or another. |
What Inspired You To Write It? I was inspired to write this book because of my work as a healer/counsellor. I felt a need to reach out to help others in a big way. I could see that people needed comfort and I wanted to find a way to give them that. So one day all my thoughts, feelings and experiences came pouring out and I couldn't stop writing. I realised that these pieces of writing contained powerful messages that had the ability to be healing. This gave me a sense of peace, calm and serenity, and as I was writing I felt an urgent need to pass the messages on to others. |
What Would You Like Your Readers To Get From Your Book? I hope my readers will find their true passion in life, and that this book will help them to connect to their inner-self and give them the strength and courage to believe in themselves. Inspirational writing is a way of expressing oneself and being creative, so in whichever way is possible I believe this book has a way of helping one find their way. This book is also a source of comfort and the powerful words can help the reader to find a way through sometimes difficult times in their life. This book has covered all aspects of life and its challenges. |
When Did You First Realise That You Wanted To Write This Book? When I was writing during the 6 months before I found my publisher I realised I could put all these pieces of writing together in a book and that this would be a marvellous way of helping people. Also publishing a book could reach so many people on a much larger scale. |
What Gave You The Push To Get Published? To get this book published meant everything to me. In order for me to continue with my healing work I felt that this book needed to be published and that it could make such a difference to people's life. I felt I had so much to share with others that it seemed unfair not to do so. I felt passionate and had an inner strength that seemed to drive me on until I accomplished what I set out to do. |
Did You Have Any Difficulty In Getting Published? I was very fortunate in finding my publisher (Live It Publishing) who allowed me the freedom to express myself and write from my heart. It was unbelievable the support I had from my publishing company. Right from the beginning when I signed contracts, getting published was a very smooth and rapid process from start to finish. |
What Hurdles Did You Face Whilst Writing & How Did You Overcome Them? Writing a book takes a lot of courage especially as I was writing from the heart and from my experiences. I felt that I was exposing myself and that everyone would be reading this. Then at other times, because I believed that what I was writing could help people, I stayed strong in my beliefs and knew that what I was doing was for good reasons and it felt right. It was important to have good friends who supported my work and kept me positive throughout. |
How Did It Feel Seeing Your Book In Real Life For The 1st Time? I will always remember the day I saw my book for the very first time. I had very mixed emotions all happening at the same time. I felt absolute relief that I had achieved this, proud to see my name printed on my book, moments of surreality. I felt exhilarated and elated and tremendous sense of peace and happiness. It was incredible like I had never felt before. |
Do You Have Any Tips For Our Budding Authors? I would say to any budding author that if you get the opportunity to write a book, don't put it off for tomorrow as tomorrow never comes. Write from your heart by writing what you truly believe in and don't just write what you think other people want to hear. Keep a good network of supportive people around you who believe in you and want you to do well. This will give you confidence and keep you going to achieve your goals. Keep a positive attittude so you don't allow obstacles and blocks to hold you back and you will find your dreams will come true! |
What's Next For You? I continue to write poems almost every day and this always gives me joy and makes me very happy. I have enough poems to do another book in the future, though for now I want to focus on this book. I plan to do more workshops incorporating my inspirational writings to help other people find their true passion in life and to give inspiration to others. Through my writing I want to offer comfort and help people who may be going through a difficult time. I want to expand my healing work offering a place for people to come and visit for more than just an appointment. My partner and I would like to have a retreat for people to come and stay and have healing. We also want to have some space to grow our own vegetables and flowers and use this too as a way of enhancing the healing that they get. I never know exactly what is round the corner and that is what is so exciting for me. Writing a book was something I never imagined I would be able to do and so I feel very blessed that I have had the opportunity to fulfill this dream.
